【Background Knowledge】
There are two national emblems of Canada. One is the Canadian beaver, a clever and hardworking animal that has thick fur and a wide flat tail. It cuts down trees with its teeth.
The second emblem is the Canadian maple leaf that is in the middle of the national flag. The maple leaf is considered an official symbol of Canada: some Canadians use a maple leaf on their business cards. The best time to see the leaves is autumn when maple leaves turn hundreds of different colors. As the saying goes, “If you have never seen Canada in the fall(秋天), you have never known the meaning of brightly colored.”

Canada--- One of the Best Places to Live in the World

It’s no secret: Canadians and visitors to Canada enjoy a high quality of life that is recognized worldwide. From safe neighborhoods to first-class health care and public transportation, every aspect of Canadian life is perfect. The United Nations has consistently ranked Canada as one of the top three places in the world to live.
As the world’s second largest country, Canada offers great geographic variety in a climate not nearly as cold as you might think. Visitors can discover all kinds of scenery here--- from Pacific coastal mountains to the Canadian prairies. National parks are located in every province and some have been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites (世界文化遗产).
In a country with about one-seventh of the world’s fresh water supply, beaches and waterfronts are always close by. Parks and historic sites offer lots of outdoor activities such as tennis, golf, swimming, and skiing. They are very popular and can be enjoyed across Canada.
Canada is an international leader in computer and information technologies. Canada was also one of the first nations to connect schools and libraries to the Internet. Media and entertainment are well developed in Canada. Its highly advanced broadcasting system serves, entertains and educates the listening and viewing audience. A wide range of cultural activities are available in Canadian cities and towns, including museums, galleries, theatres, dance and music performances and concerts.
